Paul Valentine

Paul Valentine was founded by Marlene and Paul Franzreb in Mannheim, Germany. In just seven years, we transformed the brand from a startup into one of the largest direct-to-consumer (D2C) companies in Germany and Europe. Paul Valentine generated over €125 million in net sales, served more than 1.5 million customers, and built a talented team of 60+ employees. The brand also achieved significant international expansion, shipping to over 130 countries worldwide and growing well beyond the DACH region.

With rapid growth came significant challenges, including the complexities of scaling organizational structures and managing inventory financing. The recession in Germany in 2022, coupled with inflation and low consumer spending, forced the company into administration. In early 2023, the brand was acquired by an investor, and we left the company in July 2023 to start new businesses and brands.

Faye

Faye is a contemporary jewelry brand founded in 2017 by Marlene and Paul Franzreb. Originally launched as a sister brand to Paul Valentine, Faye rapidly expanded, achieving multi-seven-figure annual sales in a short time.

After Paul Valentine’s rapid growth, reaching over €32 million in annual net sales and it's product expansion into the jewelry category, we made the strategic decision to consolidate our resources. As a result, we discontinued the Faye brand in 2022.

In terms of VC, how much capital do you typically invest?

We usually invest up to 250,000 Euro in pre-seed and seed stage for approximately 25% equity. We look for a great product and brand, as well as a product-market fit. We have an extensive network of private equity firms and VCs that we collaborate with for larger capital injections.
